Michael Brea (Ugly Betty, Step Up 3D) said that he killed his mother because he saw the devil in her. Brea was arrested yeasterday for killing his mother in an apartment in Brooklyn, New York and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

According to a report by the New York Post, during the evaluation, Brea said: ""When I looked at my mother, I saw the devil."

The actor murdered his 55-year-old mother using a 3-foot ornate masonic sword, not with a samurai sword as originally reported. He allegedly repeatedly stabbed and hit her on the head with the sword. The police responded to neighbors' calls and found the woman dead in the bathroom.

Neighbors claimed that they could hear screaming and shouting around 1:30 a.m. coming from the actor's apartment. The 31-year old actor was heard to have repeatedly shouted "Repent! Repent! Repent!" at his mother, and about "the architect of the universe" which refers to the Freemason's supreme being.

Neighbors confirmed that Brea was a member of the Freemason and had been in a meeting earlier in the evening.

Officers have arrested Brea on charges of murder and possession of weapons. Neighbors have complained of police inaction and said the officers did not enter the apartment for an hour since they arrived. Police said that they were following procedures, but neighbors claimed that Brea's mother could have been saved if they had gone in earlier.
