The Ultimate Fighter 18 Team Rousey vs. Team Tate: Reliving Rowdy’s Top Submission Wins (Videos)
UFC champ Ronda "Rowdy" Rousey and former Strikeforce champ Miesha Tate are set to meet in Sept 4 at a coaching gig on the first ever season of The Ultimate Fighter that features aspiring female UFC fighters. To be featured in Fox Sports 1, expect to witness the unexpected when two female coaches, who are also rivals in the fighting arena, meet inside The Ultimate Fighter house.
But more than the drama and emotions, expect also some useful techniques coming from each coaches, especially from the bantamweight champ Rousey, whose record is impressive enough to make female casts hope to be in her team. Having seven wins as a professional fighter, Ronda has won all of her fights via single submission technique, the armbar.
So shall we see Ronda teaching the technique to her students? See below for Ronda's top submission wins in her career.
Rousey vs. Sarah D'Alelio
This one is the fastest among the list with 25 seconds. Rousey quickly rushed to D'Alelio to secure a take down, but when she didn't find any success, she pulled guard and quickly locked the armbar. Considering that this is Rousey's debut fight at Strikeforce, this fight has huge importance for her career because it has made her name known to mainstream audience.
Rousey vs. Julia Budd
Rousey quickly closed the distance right after the referee signaled the start of the fight and ended up on top of Budd and in full mount. The setup is very impressive. Although Budd tried her best to get out of the submission hold, once Ronda locked it, you know it is done already. The win gave Ronda a women's submission of the year award in 2011.
Rousey vs. Miesha Tate
Two words to describe Ronda's assertion to the title of Strikeforce champion: fast and furious. In her championship bout against the very talented Miesha Tate, who is scheduled to rematch Rousey after The Ultimate Fighter 18, Ronda showed once again her trademark armbar submission. It was quick and nasty. See video above.
