‘Uncharted 5’ & ‘Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’ update: Future of franchise depends on Sony; More DLC details revealed
“Uncharted 5” PS4 is now a distant possibility, only if, Sony chooses another gaming studio for the next adventure. Naughty Dog has revealed that it is not developing the next title. Thus, the future of the franchise now lies on Sony as a PS4 release date is definitely not on the cards. “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” is exclusively coming to PS4 this year.
The game is a standalone expansion of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.” The game will reunite players with Chloe Fraser. She will be on the hunt for a mythical Indian artefact and will be accompanied by Nadine Ross. Chloe is expected to be quite different from Nate. The California-based studio Naughty Dog has a lot on its plate, including “The Last of Us: Part 2.” That is reportedly the reason it won’t make “Uncharted 5.” However, many gaming experts had previously reported that something like this is going to happen.
According to PlayStation Universe, It was previously stated on a more unequivocal term that won’t be another game in the franchise after “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.” Thus, the Santa Monica outfit is done with the franchise, and now, all eyes are on Sony. Experts believe that Sony is unlikely to draw curtains on its insanely-popular money-making franchise and will soon employ another studio. There is also a possibility that Sony may wait for the time being and release an “Uncharted” game for its upcoming brand new console PS5.
“I would say that Naughty Dog doing an Uncharted after this is unlikely. I would never say never, but we’ve got The Last of Us Part 2 on our plates and there’s so much other stuff that [we want to explore] ... It’d be hard. If we magically had that two-team, three-team studio, sure – it’d be great to keep doing it. We really love the franchise, but the studio has limited resources and lots of other ideas. I’d say the likelihood is low,” Naughty Dog co-founder, Evan Wells, told Game Informer.
Meanwhile, Naughty Dog has confirmed more details on the “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” DLC. Creative Director Shaun Escayg confirmed that the latest chapter in the multi-million dollar franchise would be more “grounded” than previous entries, IGN reports. In the Game Informer exclusive story, it has also been revealed that the game will have the biggest level up to now in the franchise. It will even be bigger than “Uncharted 4’s” sprawling Madagascar stage. Designer James Cooper has said that the stage would be the single-largest level ever done in “Uncharted.”
