CBS's science fiction drama series, "Under the Dome," is set to return on June 30, 2014. "Under the Dome" is based on Stephen King's book of the same name, and the writer has written the premiere episode of the second season. Mr King is also donning the hat of the executive producer. He will be consulting on the set, as well.

"We're excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester's Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season," Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, had said in a statement.

The filming of Second Season has begun on March 03, 2014 in Wilmington. Stephen King tweeted on March 02, 2014: "The 2nd season of UNDER THE DOME starts production tomorrow. I'm pretty stoked."

"Under the Dome" Season 1 premiered on June 24, 2013. The show was one of the big summer hits for CBS, despite negative reviews from critics. In this series, a mysterious dome cuts off the town of Chester's Mill from the outside world. "Under the Dome" chronicles the lives of the residents of this town and features their struggle to survive in an alien condition.

It has been reported that two of the major characters will die in Season 2. Recently, Stephen King has teased that no one is safe this season. In a fun video clip posted on You Tube, actors Mike Vogel and Colin Ford can be seen suggesting to Mr King that he needs to kill Big Jim.

The "Breaking Bad" actor, Dean Norris, has been roped in to play Big Jim in the Second Season of "Under the Dome." As The Hollywood Reporter reported in February 2013, Norris' Big Jim will be a successful owner of used car dealership in Chester Mill. Big Jim is also a town councilman who "takes his position seriously."

"Under the Dome" Season 2 consists of 13 episodes. Jack Bender, executive producer of "Under the Dome," is directing the premiere episode of the new season.
