"Underworld: Awakening" Poster: Kate Beckinsale is Back
One of the original bad ass vampires is back, and this time, everyone is in for an awakening.
Following the release of the trailer, "Underworld: Awakening" have finally released a poster. Although it looks quite as normal as the past three posters with the gun-toting Seline and the usual leather duds and equally leathery trench coat.
"What to say? Slightly videogamey look to the not quite photo-real central Seline, further reinforced by the poster's slight Assassin's Creed vibe. And that fiery rain puts us in mind of the Max Payne movie," comments Empire Online on the overall look and feel of the official poster.
Fifteen years after the events of Underworld: Evolution, Seline, played by Kate Beckinsale, comes out of a coma and finds out that the world that she used to live with plays a different game: the humans now hunt the vampires and the Lycans for survival while the Underworld hides from the humans.
Seline also finds out that after fifteen years of machine-induced sleep, she has a vampire-werewolf hybrid daughter, which is the product of the quick rendezvous between Scott Speedman and Beckinsale at the back of the van.
with "Vengance Returns" as a tagline, "Underworld" fans can already foresee the oncoming plot: Seline looks for her daughter, who will eventually fight alongside her. Or will the writers create an elaborate twist in the storyline, since it has been mentioned that there will be a Lycan much bigger and stronger than any Lycan that fans have seen in the past?
People can only assume so much that "vengance" means Seline is pissed. The "returns" part, however, might refer to Seline's long slumber, not being available for the prequel "Rise of the Lycans," starring Rhona Mitra in the lead role, Empire reports.
Beckinsale, now 38, had a hiatus from films after "Everybody's Fine" in 2009 with Robert De Niro. She solidified her Hollywood status with different titles such as "Underworld," "Click" and "The Aviator." She now has high profile films to be released in 2012, including "Contraband" and the remake of the 1990 movie "Total Recall" starrign Arnold Schwarzenegger.
