After several months of waiting, the evasi0n team has finally launched a jailbreak tool for the iPhone, iPad and iPod devices running iOS 7. This tool runs on OS X, Windows and Linux. You can Download it out here and check the step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak your device below. There has been a lot of issues on the evasi0n team and its software, though. The software is reportedly buggy and it could even send private user data to some sites. It is recommended to hold off on the jailbreak until more information develops.

Jailbreaking involves a process which changes bit by bit with each iOS upgrade. iOS 7.0.4 is the most recent version of iOS and it is jailbroken. Tethered jailbreaking is also not recommended because you are required to connect your device to the computer and boot it every time. It is bad with new OS releases because these tend to freeze up more. Users do not want to freeze their devices up and have it unusable. The good news is that the evasi0n method in this guide is untethered and it works also on every device so there's no need to do a tethered one.

How to Jailbreak

Follow this step-by-step guide or watch the video below for a demo.

1. Back up your iPhone, iPad or iPod.

2. Download Evasi0n for your Windows or OS X operating system.

3. Open the evasi0n app you have just downloaded.

4. Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod to the computer. If you have a passcode lock that's enabled, go to the Settings app on the device and disable it temporarily. To do this, go to: General > Passcode Lock section. You can re-enable this setting after your jailbreak is complete. You can also just turn on the Airplane mode to avoid any updates or data-driven apps that can interfere with the jailbreak process.

5. On the computer, click the Jailbreak button in the evasi0n app window. It can take time to upload the necessary jailbreak data and during this process, your phone should restart. Wait for evasi0n to complete this step.

6. Evasi0n will then install a temporary jailbreak app on the device. When it's ready, it will prompt you to open it. Unlock the device and click on the jailbreak app icon. The screen will then flash briefly but it will look as if nothing is happening. If you check your computer though, you will see that the jailbreak process continues. It will finish in around a minute and you can close evasi0n on the computer. The device needs to be rebooted several times but when you see your lockscreen, this means the process is finished. Navigate to Cydia and enjoy your newly jailbroken device!
