Amanda Bynes has been ordered to stay at a psychiatric hospital for another two weeks. Parents of the troubled star requested her doctor to recommend the extension and the judges gave it a green light.

Authorities took the She’s the Man star into custody when Amanda allegedly started a fire at the home of her parents’ neighbor. She was forced to undergo involuntary mental evaluation following the incident. While she had hoped to go back to her life as usual, her parents, Rick Bynes and Lynn Organ who later applied for conservatorship of her assets, asked for Amanda’s doctors to recommend an extension.

The distressed star is now undergoing what authorities refer to as 5150 order or involuntary mental evaluation. This is the same mental treatment received by Britney Spears when the singer had a meltdown in 2008. The procedure allows medical practitioners to keep an eye at Amanda for 72 hours, non-stop.

The star’s lawyer vehemently fought the order made for the mental health evaluation, but her parents insisted that it will do Amanda more good than harm to be under care of the hospital.

Both Rick and Lynn were seen visiting the former child star today. A court hearing was also scheduled today to evaluate their request for temporary conservatorship of Amanda’s personal and business affairs.

Rick has been estranged from Amanda for months, said The Sun. But a source insisted that the star’s father will not keep a blind eye on her daughter’s plight.

“Rick will be there for his daughter, no matter what,” an insider was quoted as telling RadarOnline.

“They just want her to get the help she needs, and recognise that it could be a long process. She’s their daughter, and they are committed to getting her better.”

Amanda has had a slew of run-ins with the police in recent months. She also had a number of online spats with fellow celebrities, including Miley Cyrus, Drake, and Rihanna, among others.
