Update on Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Amir Khan Bout, Not a Done Deal
Here is an update about Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Amir Khan. As it has been previously reported, Mayweather is set to face Khan on his next fight. Apparently, the news came from the British boxer's camp, as reported by ESPN.
However, according to Mayweather's advisor Leonard Ellerbe, who spoke to Dan Rafael of ESPN, no contract has really been finalised and signed yet.
"It is hilarious," said Ellerbe. "It is the nature of the boxing industry, I have heard that Floyd will face Tim Bradley next, I have heard a lot of things," Ellerbe added. "We just sit back and relax, how many times you have heard rumours in this business about fights being finalised when it is not even close to the real case," said Ellerbe.
A lot of boxing fans are certainly eager to find out who Mayweather will fight next. He had successfully defended his reign of being undefeated. Thus, people can only speculate what happens next, and even professional boxers can only express their interests in fighting the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He had successfully triumphed over Guerrero and Alvarez in 2013. Honestly, it will really be difficult to pick the fighter to fight him next.
"I have no idea what we are doing next," said Ellerbe. "Floyd has just remained the boxing rumour mill," he added. "I heard he will fight Bernard Hopkins and Amir Khan, you hear so many things that people speculate and all you can do is just sit back and laugh it off," he said. "However, it is really amazing to be in a position where everyone wants to fight the king, but we never really had any talks about who Floyd should fight next, he is just enjoying his time off the boxing ring," Ellerbe concluded.
Mayweather has really not aired out his thoughts about his next possible fight, but he constantly keeps his followers updated with what is going on in his life. Surely, if such a deal is set, Mayweather will announce it to the world and to the millions of his followers on social media Web sites.
