Google has released the Android 4.4.3 KitKat firmware to Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition devices. The firmware is available for the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505G) series. The update should start showing up on people's devices or through a notification. Similar to other updates of other devices and Android versions, the release comes out in stages. Some users may have received the notification already but others may have to wait for roll on their units.

For those who have not seen the Android prompt or notification can go to the Settings section to check the update manually. Under Settings, go to About Phone then choose Systems Update menu. People can just check the Over-the-Air release or install the update manually.

Before installing the update manually, users should install the newest version of custom recovery. Likewise, the device should be at least charged 80% with the USB Debugging mode enabled. It is also best to back up all important files and settings to make sure users can go back to their regular tasks upon update.

When updating manually, people should download the required firmware and transfer the file to the internal storage or SD card root folder of the device. Reboot the handset to CWM or TWRP recovery. Flash the update similar to how other zip files are flash. People can use the install option to complete upgrade.

Another installation option is through ADB sideload. To update via sideload, turn off the device and press volume down button to reboot it. Users should wait for the fastboot menu and for the start prompt. Press the Power and Volume Up buttons together. Wait for the recovery menu. Choose "apply update from adb." Connect the S4 GPE device to the computer.

Make sure all required drivers are saved. Place this file in the same directory where the adb files are stored: 7c24931a5ecc3103f99de456cda73250f3b3a1b9.USER_I9505G_XAR_UCML4_to_UCNE3_Update_FWD.zip. Press Shift and right click. Choose "Open command window here." Input the following command on the prompt provided: adb sideload 7c24931a5ecc3103f99de456cda73250f3b3a1b9.USER_I9505G_XAR_UCML4_to_UCNE3_Update_FWD.zip.

The update should start installing with a progress bar. Reboot thedevice following installation.
