UPDATED: 64th Cannes Film Festival full line-up announced
Actor, Robert de Niro serves as President for the festival’s Feature Film Jury while Bong Joon-Ho has been named as President-Director for Un Certain Regard Jury.
Organizers of this spring’s 64th Cannes Film Festival have announced the full line-up and they promised that the event opening on May 11 at the South of France provides a “quite a rich and fruitful edition”.
Actor, Robert de Niro serves as President for the festival’s Feature Film Jury while Bong Joon-Ho has been named as President-Director for Un Certain Regard Jury. While the closing film has yet to be announced by the organizers, Woody Allen’s ‘Midnight in Paris’ is confirmed to open the film festival.
A roster of critically acclaimed directors who oftentimes chose holding off to open their new projects at the festival has been revealed. Some of the big leagues include Gus Van Sant (‘Restless’) Terrence Malick (‘The Tree Of Life’); Takashi Miike (‘Harakiri’), Woody Allen (‘Midnight in Paris’) and Lars Von Trier (‘Melancholia’).
Nineteen films are listed both for the competition and un certain regard categories while four films were declared ‘out of the competition’ including Jodie Foster’s ‘The Beaver’, starring Mel Gibson.
The festival has two films lined-up for its ‘midnight screenings’ while four are listed in special screenings.
