Adele may be currently in cloud nine after sweeping awards in two award-giving bodies but many are aware that it has not been easy for the singer to go this far.

One of the notable hardships of the singer is her most recent heartbreak.

Adele split with her ex that inspired the creation of her latest album "21." In one of her interviews, the singer said that it was hard to sing some of her songs as she was reminded of her former love. However, the heartbreak did a lot of good things to Adele.

Another downfall of Adele is her not-so-good relationship with her father. Adele's parents were separated since she was three years old. In her recent interview with US Vogue, Adele said that she will "spit in his face" and followed with a strong statement that she does not want a relationship with her dad.

Later last year, Adele suffered a medical condition that was a threat to her nightingale-like voice. Adele had a vocal cord hemorrhage that led to the cancellation of many of her performances. She has undergone a surgery to treat her condition.

Adele is one of the artists criticized due to her weight. Fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld said that the singer is "quite too fat." According to the singer, she is proud of her body and her image as she represents women. She also added that she never dreamed to be a model strutting the catwalk or posing on the cover of a magazine.

According to the interview of Adele with the People magazine, "I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that," she said. With this statement, Adele became one of the role models of plus size women over the world.

Recently, Adele is involved in an alleged sex tape as one French magazine published photos from the said tape. Adele denied the reports and advised her lawyer to sue the magazine.

All of these hardships led to the glorious success of Adele winning top prizes in Grammy and Brit Awards. Adele even surpassed late singers Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse in the charts records.
