Uruguay President Jose Mujica is still fuming about the ban on La Celeste star Luis Suarez, who was meted a four-month suspension from all soccer activities by FIFA for the biting Giorgio Chiellini in the Uruguay vs. Italy match in the group stages of the 2014 World Cup.

“At FIFA, they are a bunch of old sons of bitches,” declared the outspoken 79-year-old Mujica in Spanish. “They could have punished (him), but not with fascist sanctions.”

The video of the controversial statement was taken at the airport in Montevideo, the largest city and capital of Uruguay where the Uruguayan president was welcoming back the Uruguay NT captain Diego Lugano. The Uruguayan president was also with senator wife Lucia Topolansky, who agreed with the president’s sentiments.

Aside from the four-month ban, the 27-year-old is also suspended for nine games in playing for the Uruguay national team.

Mujica, who is a former guerilla leader, is a very likeable in his country and is described as the “world’s poorest president” owing to his simple lifestyle and affinity with the poor.

Meanwhile, Suarez took to Twitter to send his apologies to Chiellini and the soccer community early Tuesday.

“Independent from the fallout and the contradicting declarations that have surfaced during these past days, all of which have been without the intention of interfering with the good performance of my national team, the truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chiellini suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me,” shared Suarez in the social media site.

"I deeply regret what occurred. I apologize to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family,” said Suarez via the social networking and microblogging site.

It appears the La Celeste’s star player has already accepted his fate of being away from the game of soccer for quite a time; however, Uruguay’s president has yet to move on and will continue to bash FIFA and its leaders.
