U.S. Fans Reveal Their FIFA World Cup Knowledge to Prankster Baha Salamah [Video]
With the biggest football event just a week away, everyone is already feeling the warmth of it. Prankster Baha Salamah chose the occasion to interview a host of "football fans" in the United States about their general knowledge on the game, and the answers he got revealed a lot about their knowledge about the game (or the lack of it).
Where will the world cup be held?
When Baha asked this question to people, several of them got it right. One of them seemed a little confused but got the right answer eventually. Another man in white t-shirt declared that he was not a "soccer" fan before wondering where the world cup would be held. "Somewhere in South America, he said, "Argentina?" When he was corrected that it would be Brazil, Baha was hit hard on the back (maybe because of high excitement of knowing the correct venue).
Who will win the world cup?
A couple of young men in Real Madrid t-shirts were asked whom they would be supporting in the world cup. "Spain, Real Madrid," they said. Baha asked them what chances Real Madrid would have to win the tournament, they said "Big time!" "I think they will win," one of them claimed. If you don't get the irony, you should support Bayern Munich in the world cup instead.
On Gareth Bale (Wales)
People were asked if they knew who Gareth Bale was. The "Real Madrid" guys nailed it. One of them said that Bale played for Italy. "I think he'll do good. As long as he puts his heart to it, I think he'll do really good," he replied to how the footballer would perform.
On the last world cup
Most of them got it right on who won the last world cup. One man said it was England. It was Spain, by the way, that won it last time in 2010. When people were asked where the last world cup had been held, some of them said it correctly (South Africa). The "Real Madrid" guys gave two answers: Portugal and Mexico. They also said that Brazil had won the last world cup.
On the top goal-scorer
A man in black t-shirt seemed pretty sure that it would be "the Spanish guy - Messi."
On the selection of Baha Salamah (the interviewer) in the U.S. team
"How will Baha Salamah do in the world cup?" the man himself asked. "He is American?" one asked. When said yes, he said that Baha would do great then. Another said that he was excited to see what Baha could do at the world cup.
