A recent study has shown that condoms not only promote safe sex and save you from unwanted pregnancies but it also maintains opyimum health of your vagina.

The research was published in a Chinese journal , PLOS One, Live Science and it said that condoms helps good bacteria to grow in vagina.

The Beijing Friendship Hospital have obsereved 164 healthy married women between 18 to 45 year in China , before proving their hypothesis.

The researchers at the hospital have found that who were a regular user of condom had more colonies of good microbes in their vagina as compared to those women who were using birth control pill.

The 'good bacteria' is lactobacillus which is widely present in vagina and produces lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide thus helping the vagina maintain a normal pH level of 4.5. This pH level is equivalent to the acidity of a tomato juice or beer.

The Huffinton Post reported LiveScience statement : "This "acidic buffer system," as the researchers called it, is thought to block harmful bacteria from taking up residence and causing infections.

As per studies conducted worldwide, Lactobacillus prevents vaginosis. The disease is caused by lack of good vaginal bacteria. This in turn results in severe itching, unusual discharge and bad odour.

STD's (Sexually transmitted disases) have also become a common occurance in UK This is a strong indicator of the fact that condoms are not used in vast numbers .

So next time who plan to have sex, make sure you use a condom, it will not only save you from unwanted pregnancy but would also inculcate healthy bacteria in your vagina.
