R&B singer Usher is getting ready for his role in the forthcoming movie titled Hands of Stone. The American singer-songwriter will play Sugar Ray Leonard in the said movie, and he is certainly working hard on all the physical aspects to ensure that he can pull off the role as the boxing legend.

Usher graced the cover of the latest issue of Men's Health magazine, and he explained everything that he has been doing for the character that he is going to play in the movie.

"My commitment to Sugar Ray Leonard's character demands that I also become him, and to just physically get myself ready," Usher told Men's Health. "Sugar Ray is an incredible man, I have to have his hair, his personality, the manner he conducts himself, in-all that," Usher added.

Usher, who weighed 180 pounds when he was recruited for the role is now cruising on his way down to 172. "I train like an athlete every single day, whether you believe it or not," Usher said. It looks like Usher really did go to great lengths just to fit into his character. According to Men's Health, he even met Sugar Ray Leonard himself. Usher probably needed to ask for some tips on how he can better deliver his character.

Sugar Ray Leonard was named Boxer of the Decade during the 1980s. He has won world titles in five weight divisions. He was also the very first boxer to have earned more than $100 million in purses.

Usher is really thrilled to have gotten this role. The movie also stars Hollywood legend Robert De Niro, who plays as Hall of Fame trainer Ray Arcel.

The movie's plot will center on Sugar Ray Leonard's fight against Roberto Duran, played by Edgar Ramirez. It will include the Brawl in Montreal and the Revenge in New Orleans bouts.
