"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 finale is fast approaching and the synopsis released teases about an explosive episode. A promo video for Episode 22 titled "Home" has been released as well to show Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) "Project Kaboom" to stop Markos (Raffi Barsoumian) once and for all.

According to the synopsis in the Alloy Entertainment report, Damon will be heartbroken with the unexpected tragedy. It will push the Salvatore vampire to blowing up Mystic Falls and pressure Bonnie (Kat Graham) once again to find a way of stopping the Other Side from collapsing.

The Episode 21 synopsis further noted that Damon's explosive plan will have the TVD gang "caught up in the confusion, leaving a trail of heroism, sacrifice, relief and despair." In the promo video, Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) can be seen talking to the evil Travellers' leader Markos and she notices the smell of gas at Mystic Grills.

Damon tells Elena (Nina Dobrev) about his "Project Kaboom" and he needs someone to trigger the explosion. The next scene showed Damon in the car with Elena suddenly jumping in and instructing the Salvatore vampire to just drive.

Executive producer Caroline Dries previously teased about three more deaths happening before "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 wraps up. Spoiler Alert! Episode 21 titled "Promised Land" showed the death of Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), does this mean the two more deaths will be characters Damon and Elena?

The two are shown in the promo video driving towards Mystic Grills with Damon exclaiming "Come on!" and Elena closing her eyes before their car crashed and explosion followed. In the released promo photos from the finale episode, one image showed Damon holding a bottle of drink while sitting on the hood of his car and looking at Mystic Falls. It looks like Damon is saying goodbye to his hometown before blowing it up. The Examiner report claims actor Paul Wesley told TV Guide that the Season 5 finale episode will definitely establish the "new parameters" in the Season 6 environment. "They reset things in a way, and the writers have the ability to now change the circumstances and locations of where the show takes place," the TVD star stated.

The synopsis for the upcoming finale episode further revealed the other exciting and intense scenes that will go down like Elena taking matters into her own hands, Sheriff Forbes finding out that the Travellers have taken over Mystic Falls when Markos used violence against Julian (Michael Trevino) and Bonnie taking the opportunity to settle an old score while the Other Side continues to collapse.
