'Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Actor Ian Somerhalder Directs Episode 16, Confirms News Through Shared Image On Instagram
"Vampire Diaries" cast member Ian Somerhalder, who portrays Damon Salvatore in the CW TV series, will be sitting on the director's chair as he works on an episode in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 like his co-star Paul Wesley. The 36-year-old heartthrob actor confirmed the news through a shared image on Instagram.
On Thursday, Dec. 18, Ian Somerhalder revealed on his Instagram account iansomerhalder that he is the director of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 16 titled "The Downward Spiral." The upcoming episode will be Ian Somerhalder's directorial debut in the CW TV series.
"This is pretty cool too... Who is directing the next episode?On set with him right now;) Thank you to all involved in the decision-making process for giving me the opportunity to do this-I am so grateful," Somerhalder posted as a caption to the shared Instagram image of the episode's script written by Brian Young and Caroline Dries. The actor added that he will do his very best of not screwing up his directorial work on the episode. Click HERE to see photo.
Actor Paul Wesley, who portrays Stefan Salvatore in "The Vampire Diaries," received the same opportunity to direct an episode in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, episode 18 titled "Resident Evil." The 32-year-old actor got another chance to direct an episode in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6.
When the CW TV series returns from its long holiday break, the episode that will air is the Paul Wesley-directed episode 11 titled "Woke Up With a Monster." The brand new episode is expected to reveal what Kai (Chris Wood) wants from Elena (Nina Dobrev) after he knocked her out in the ending scene of the mid-season finale episode titled "Christmas Through Your Eyes."
TVD executive producer Caroline Dries teased in an E!Online TV Scoop report that Kai will feel like getting back at Damon through Elena is the perfect revenge against the Salvatore vampire after their unpleasant time living in the 1994 prison world. The executive producer further teased that Kai will need Elena's help after feeling the consequences of sucking up all of the Traveler's anti-magic border spell over Mystic Falls.
Other details on the Ian Somerhalder-directed episode, like its exact airing schedule, are still unknown. In the meantime, the TVD fans must patiently wait for the return of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 on Jan. 22, 2015.
