'Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Executive Producer Caroline Dries Teases a TVD Character to Have Love Interest in Brand New Season, Who is He?
Executive producer Caroline Dries teased in an interview about a "Vampire Diaries" character finally having a love interest when the hit CW TV series returns with the brand new Season 6. Aside from the budding new romance, Ms Dries also discussed what "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 finale has in store for the devoted fans.
Who is this male TVD character that will finally join the couples club in Season 6? It is none other than Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig), the only human in the Mystic Falls gang that comprises of vampires, a hybrid, a hunter and an Anchor to the Other Side.
In the Zap2it interview at the 2014 PaleyFest, Caroline Dries responded to the question of whether Matt will ever find love. "Poor Matt," Ms Dries stated with a laugh. The executive producer further added: "Yes, I think so."
According to Ms Dries, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 will have the writing team try something that they have been getting into that can help in Matt's storyline. "It's hard to give him these overarching love storylines because we're just like, what's the genre? Genre, genre, genre. It's hard because we have like 40 hundred thousand characters on the show, you know? To give them all very interesting, dynamic story lines is hard but we have something planned for him," Caroline Dries explained in the Zap2it report.
Fans of the character will definitely be pleased to see Matt be happy in love after some unlucky relationships in the past seasons. The character got introduced in the show as Elena Gilbert's (Nina Dobrev) ex-boyfriend before she started dating Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley).
Matt has also dated the blonde vampire and Elena's best friend, Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola). Another relationship of Matt in "The Vampire Diaries" included the hot threesome with Original vampire Rebekah (Claire Holt) and Traveller Nadia (Olga Fonda) in a European summer trip.
"Matt hasn't had an easy time living in Mystic Falls. The girl he was seeing, Nadia, was killed by his best friend Tyler (a werewolf)'s bite. But Dries said that he might get an easier time of it in Season 6," the MoviePilot report further noted.
Moreover, executive producer Caroline Dries revealed about "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 finale script being officially handed over to her. TVD fans are now suggested to prepare a box of tissues next to them while watching the finale because Ms Dries assured that it will be an emotional one.
"We'll get to see a lot of our favorite friends from the past possibly pop in. Basically, every place on the show where s*** can possibly go wrong, it goes wrong. Just when you think, oh it can't get worse than that, it does," Ms Dries stated, harmonizing with what co-executive producer Julie Plec previously teased.
According to Ms Plec, the disintegration of the "Other Side" will have the devoted fans say a lot of goodbyes to the characters that they have grown to love in the past seasons. "Next season, that's a whole new can of worms," Ms Dries continued to tease with a laugh.
"The Vampire Diaries" returns from a lengthy break with the brand new Episode 18 titled "Resident Evil" on Thursday night, April 17, at 8 pm ET on the CW Network.
