‘The Vampire Diaries' season 8, episode 1-3 titles revealed: It all goes back from the start
“The Vampire Diaries” season 8 is nearing its premiere, and fans are in for an advanced treat as the first three episodes’ titles have been revealed.
The first three titles of the CW fantasy drama guarantee nostalgia to fans of “The Vampire Diaries.” The titles were taken from memorable lines of the show from season 1. As such, the lines have also given subtle hints on what to expect from the first few episodes.
Episode 1 is titled “Hello, Brother.” This is what Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) said in the show’s pilot episode just as he returned to Mystic Falls. Notably, Damon was a dark menacing character during season 1, and as how season 7 ended, fans can expect to see that evil Damon once more.
“The Vampire Diaries” season 7 finale showed how Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) have fallen under the traps of new villain Sybil (Nathalie Kelley). Due to Sybil’s power and influence, Damon and Enzo have succumbed to their evil sides, and as to how this will play out in “Hello, Brother” is something to anticipate for.
For episode 2, it is titled “Today Will Be Different.” The line is also taken from the pilot episode. It was when Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) writes in her diary as she hopes for a fresh start following her parents’ death.
Meanwhile, episode 3 is titled “You Decided That I Was Worth Saving,” a phrase taken from season 1’s final episode.
“Somewhere along the way you decided I was worth saving. I wanted to thank you for that,” was the full quote of Damon to Elena, who turned out to be Katherine Pierce.
From the title itself, this could be the time Damon redeems himself once more and shakes off Sybil’s influence over him. How he does it, whether with the help of his brother Stefan (Paul Wesley) or by his friends, or by a lover, is another thing to anticipate for.
“The Vampire Diaries” finale season is going as how showrunner Julie Plec wanted it to be. Plec previously stated how she wanted the story to go back full circle, thus going back to where it all started: Mystic Falls. As such, the first few episodes of the final season go by titles that pay homage to season 1 lines that began the story.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 premieres Friday, Oct. 21, on The CW in the US. Fox8 airs the show in Australia.
