'The Vampire Diaries' series finale spoilers: Latest teaser finally shows Nina Dobrev in a speaking role [Watch]
"The Vampire Diaries" airs is series finale in March 10, 2017
The series finale of “The Vampire Diaries” is only less than one month away and fans are already excited to see Nina Dobrev again as Elena Gilbert. After the actress’s emotional farewell letter on social media, a new trailer showed her in a speaking role.
On Feb. 13, 2017, a 10-second teaser video of “The Vampire Diaries” surfaced, starring Elena Gilbert. The camera did not directly show Elena, but her reflection was shown on the glass of a picture frame, among several other Mystic Falls High memorabilia. She looked into a case of the classic items then asked what happened and why she was there at that moment. Elena was obviously confused after having been put in a deep sleep and kept in a coffin for a long time.
The last time that “The Vampire Diaries” fans saw Dobrev was when her life was linked with best friend Bonnie (Kat Graham). She was placed under a spell and waited until Bonnie has completely lived her life before she can awaken and live hers. Dobrev’s return remained uncertain for a long time before she confirmed the news earlier in 2017.
“The Vampire Diaries” fans immediately shared their excitement on social media. The trailer did not reveal anything about how the season finale may play out, but many are already sharing their insights and predictions, writes Teen Vogue. Some users speculate that Bonnie fully lived her life, so Elena only woke up decades later after all her human loved ones have already died. Others believe that Kai’s (Chris Wood) recent return on “The Vampire Diaries” will mean an early awakening for the character. Many agree that Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) will be waiting for Elena regardless when she will return.
Dobrev left “The Vampire Diaries” after the end of Season 6 then announced her return to properly close the series at the end of Season 8. The last episode, titled “I Was Feeling Epic,” is written by co-creators Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson. Plec previously stated that she is thrilled to end the show the way they always intended, with Dobrev coming back to help them say goodbye, notes E! Online. Williamson added that she was also excited to have the actress back to ensure that they presented a truly epic farewell episode.
The series finale of “The Vampire Diaries” will air on Mar. 10, 2017 on The CW in the US. In Australia, it will air on FOX8.
