Vancouver Man Stabs Pit Bull to Death at Beach, Runs Away in SUV
A Vancouver man, 72, stabbed a pit bull to death after it bit his pug.
Sergeant Randy Fincham informed that the man was at the Kitsilano Beach walking his dog; CNEWS reports. He started talking with Amy Leigh who had the pit bull with her. The pit bull apparently attacked his pug and bit its neck. Sgt Fincham said that the man put down the pit bull with his folding knife after he had failed to separate the two. Both the dog-walkers are reportedly co-operating with the police when they were interviewed in reference with the incident. The pug got stitches in the neck in a veterinary hospital.
Meanwhile, Ms Leigh who walked the pit bull posted an open letter on social media after she lost her beloved pet. She posted an image of her daughter kissing the deceased pit bull, Pandora, on Facebook. She mentions that her family is shocked after Pandora was stabbed to death after her encounter with a pug at the beach.
Ms Leigh says that the pit bull helped her raise her 4-year-old daughter. Given a chance, she would allow the dog to take care of her daughter again. However, she said that she would not have that opportunity again as she had been "murdered." She mentions in her note that her daughter lost her best friend.
Ms Leigh asks why the pug ran around with no leash when there were clear instructions on the beach that dogs must be kept on leash. She wrote that the man ran away in an SUV with his pug after repeatedly stabbing her dog until she died. He shouted that her dog deserved to die as it hurt his pug. Animal control picked up the deceased dog was and delivered it the BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Ms Leigh did not respond to The Vancouver Sun's request to give an interview. On the other hand, VPD won't consider any charge against the person who killed the dog. The case will be dealt by the BC SPCA.
