‘Veep’ season 6 air date confirmed: The show will be back in April
“Veep” season 6 air date has been confirmed. Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Selina Meyer) was first to break news confirming the show's April 10 premiere. Soon after, showrunners tweeted about the same, confirming through the show's official Twitter handle.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus shared a short video on Twitter, in which she seems very enthusiastic about announcing the premiere date. She is seen dancing at the Oval Office while holding a board showing details. “Extra! Extra! Read all about it! New season of veep,” read her tweet. (See the tweet below.)
Soon after that, the official Twitter handle of the show (@VeepHBO) also posted a video announcing the “Veep” season 6 air date. Louis-Dreyfus also featured in another video on the official Twitter handle. She says, “Got an air date - April 16, “Veep” on HBO 10:30 p.m. Be there.”
The Emmy award-winning show will return with all the cast members including Tony Hale (Gary Walsh), Anna Chlumsky (Amy Brookheimer), Reid Scott (Dan Egan), Matt Walsh (Mike McLintoc) and Timothy Simons (Jonah Ryan). Kevin Dunn (Ben Cafferty), Gary Cole (Gary Cole) and Sam Richardson (Richard Splett) will also be joining the rest. Dave Mandel, Louis-Dreyfus, Lew Morton, Frank Rich are Morgan Sackett are on board as executive producers.
In September last year, Dreyfus won the Emmy award for the fifth year in a row for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The show also took home its second best comedy trophy. Last month, she won Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for "Veep."
The story of the show will pick up from where it ended in season 5. Previously, Selina Meyer lost her bid for the presidency after the Electoral College vote resulted in a tie and the Senate responsible for breaking the tie voted for Laura Montez (Andrea Savage). The last scene of the finale episode of season 5 showed Selina Meyer sitting in the rain with her staff and being forced to watch the new president’s parade.
Now, the show will follow Meyers’ life as a private citizen. Her loyal assistant Gary will still be by her side. (Read more about this story on the link below.)
