Nokia's Lumia 928 is reportedly gearing up for a U.S. release on April 2013 and the new handset is exclusive for a Verizon distribution.

Earlier this year, reports pointed to a Lumia collaboration that involves Microsoft, Nokia and American telco Verizon. It was suggested that the three firms will release a new handset that was then named as Nokia Laser.

The device was understood to get more of its look and guts from the surprise Nokia hit, the Lumia 920, and Verizon will enjoy the sole right to sell the Windows 8-powered smartphones to American consumers.

Now that new Nokia flagship is all set for a market entry next month, according to The Verge. Microsoft's role in Lumia 928 project, aside of course from providing the platform, is focused on the marketing side.

That means Microsoft will use every selling skills and muscles on its stable to ensure that the 928 will be backed by maximum visibility following its April release. Otherwise, the Lumia 928 is considered a Verizon pet project, The Verge said, meaning this is a standalone handset for the company.

The 928, however, has all the familiar Lumia 920 imprints - inside and out. The CPU and all the other components under the hood are what we have seen in the previous model but Verizon made sure that it will have its own DNA on the new device.

First off, the Lumia 928 is thinner and lighter as it will use an aluminium casing as opposed to the bulky make of the 920 on polycarbonate body. The whole profile has been thinned down considerably with some curved implements at the back side.

Another distinction is Xenon + LED flash that will come with the 928's PureView camera shooter, which remains on 8MP sensor.

The viewing pleasure for the Lumia 928 is stuck with the 4.5-inch display panel. Also the handset fully supports Verizon's SVLTE network infrastructure, which allows for the simultaneous use of voice and data access in a superfast mode.
