Vicious Obituary Of Nevada Woman Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick Goes Viral
Obituaries are usually filled with loving sentiments and sometimes laced with humour to honour the life of the deceased. But Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick's obituary neither has tender words nor good humour. Her surviving children made sure the readers know how horrible she led her life in possibly the most disturbing obituary ever written.
According to the piece, Johnson-Reddick abused her children and spent her life torturing them. Apparently, she also exposed everyone person she met to her cruel and violent nature.
Her children, now all adults, celebrated her death knowing that she would never have the power to inflict pain on them again.
The obituary appeared in Reno Gazette-Journal in both print and online on Tuesday, but the local Nevada, U.S. paper has since deleted it from their Web site. The print edition originally stated that Johnson-Reddick died on Sep 30, 2013, but it was then corrected that her actual date of death was on August 30.
The paper's publisher and president John Maher explained to KRNV-DT Reno News4 that the obituary was sent via a self-service online submission. Its online version has since been removed as the paper is still investigating the circumstances surrounding its placement.
As Gawker investigated, Johnson-Reddick might be the same Marianne Reddick who once testified before the Nevada Equal Rights Commission in 1970 after the employment agency she ran printed a "White Only" on certain work referrals.
She reasoned out that she didn't want to embarrass African Americans by sending them to jobs where employers wanted to hire only whites.
Here is the full online text of the obituary before it as deleted:
"Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick born Jan 4, 1935 and died alone on Aug. 30, 2013. She is survived by her 6 of 8 children whom she spent her lifetime torturing in every way possible. While she neglected and abused her small children, she refused to allow anyone else to care or show compassion towards them. When they became adults she stalked and tortured anyone they dared to love. Everyone she met, adult or child was tortured by her cruelty and exposure to violence, criminal activity, vulgarity, and hatred of the gentle or kind human spirit.
"On behalf of her children whom she so abrasively exposed to her evil and violent life, we celebrate her passing from this earth and hope she lives in the after-life reliving each gesture of violence, cruelty, and shame that she delivered on her children. Her surviving children will now live the rest of their lives with the peace of knowing their nightmare finally has some form of closure.
"Most of us have found peace in helping those who have been exposed to child abuse and hope this message of her final passing can revive our message that abusing children is unforgiveable, shameless, and should not be tolerated in a "humane society". Our greatest wish now, is to stimulate a national movement that mandates a purposeful and dedicated war against child abuse in the United States of America."
