Victoria's Secret Fashion Show: What Taylor Swift Wore
Watch out Victoria's Secret -- looks like Taylor Swift may have what it takes to be your next Angel.
But fabulous as she may seem, the country-pop singer left the lingerie to the pros as she performed onstage during the taping of the Victoria's Secret Fashion last Wednesday at the Lexington Armory.
She first appeared with rock band Fall Out Boy as they sang "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)" wearing the colors of the Union Jack to fit the 'British Invasion' theme. Her fitted mini-dress with floor-length tail features a rendition of the Union Jack flag with paint-splatter detail. The dress is then paired with matching Union Jack fascinator hat and shoes.
Looks like TSwift makes a good British convert if she ever does that.
For second appearance, the singer sang 'I Knew You Were Trouble' wearing a sparkly silver mini-dress; again, a match to the segment's theme, 'Snow Angels.' Taylor tops the look off with matching silver shoes and accessories and a studded microphone, like a true (good) diva.
But more than the outfits, any VS Angel would agree that the show is all about personality. And TSwift did just that -- she came close to parading down the runway by giving out gestures to models that scream 'You go, girl!' And the Angels love her for that as they give back these gestures -- Lily Aldridge held hands with her, Maryna Linchuk looked back at her, and Cara Delevigne returned her butt tap.
It also helps that the 24-year-old singer is now BFFs with Lily, Cara and Erin Heatherson in building her rapport with the models at the runway.
On the other hand, TSwift also appeared at the after-party wearing a sequined floral-patterned dress by Zuhair Murad paired with black ankle-strap pumps.
Throughout the event, TSwift kept her hair and makeup simple -- sleek straigh hair, slightly smokey eyes and nude-pink lips. Perhaps she does not want to upstage the models with their fabulous hair and makeup? And while she may have left the skin-showing to the models, she made up for it by wearing short, sparkly (and colorful) dresses. Smart move for standing out without actually competing with the models.
Overall, Taylor held herself very well in the event where lingerie-clad models are the stars of the show. So well that she might as well be a VS model herself even while showing less skin than the models. Her rapport with the models also helped with her performance onstage. Perhaps VS can book her again in the next fashion show?
For all these and more, catch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show as it airs on December 10, Tuesday, via CBS and the Victoria's Secret All Access streaming site.
