Victoria’s Secret Hires Kate Upton Back After Criticising Her Of Being ‘Too Obvious’
Victoria's Secret seems to have forgotten about criticising Kate Upton's voluptuous figure. The lingerie company has hired the buxom blonde to pose for its catalogue, just a year after saying that it will never hire her for its runway show.
The 20-year-old American model wears a black bra as she graces the back cover of the latest VS catalogue issue. This is a little surprising since a casting director for VS previously slammed Kate for being "too obvious" to hit their catwalk.
"We would never use" Kate for a Victoria's Secret show, Sophia Neophitou told NY Times in February 2012.
She claims that while the young model has posed on occasion for the lingerie brand's catalog, Kate is "too obvious" to be featured in the famed runaway show.
"She's like a Page 3 girl," Neophitou continued, referring to U.K. tabloid The Sun's feature of nearly naked voluptuous women on their paper. "She's like a footballer's wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy."
Kate doesn't appear to hold grudges, though. She might not be a catwalk model material, but it's clear that VS can't stay away from her curves.
She had also appeared in the catalogue in 2011, wearing different bra and panty sets, as well as pyjamas and sleepwear.
Although she's relatively new in the modelling world, she has already graced countless magazine covers and topped impressive lists. Since Tyra Banks in 1996 and 1997, she is the first model to appear on two consecutive annual issues of the Sports Illustrated in 2012 and 2013.
Kate is also the current Vogue magazine cover model for June.
