Video of on-the-spot breast checkups by Instagram’s hottest doctor goes viral
Breast cancer afflicts both women and men, although the incidents are higher among women. To heighten awareness of breast cancer checkup, Dr Mike Varshavski, the hottest Instagram doctor, conducted impromptu checkups in Central Park.
He did the on-the-spot breast checkups on male runners while he was also jogging. The video of Varshavski, which he posted on Instagram – where he has 2 million followers - has become viral with more than 220,000 hits, reports New York Daily News.
The third year medical resident of NYC/MIA explains, “Breast cancer screening is an incredibly important part of what I do as a family physician.” Through regular breast screening, breast cancer-related deaths went down by 25 percent.
Varshavski, who is dating Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, adds that 25 percent of women’s lives could be saved by having a preventative visit to the family doctor. He was in Central Park to prepare for and promote the Susan G. Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure on Sept 10.
According to the website of the Susan G. Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure, to become part of Varshavksi’s race team, people can sign up for US$70 (A$92) at kommennyc.org/doctormike. Those who sign up will receive a race t-shirt, bib and limited edition Doctor Mike t-shirt shipped directly to each member. Included in the registration is a US$15 (A$19.65) tax-deductible donation.
On Sept 10, only those who are registered and wearing their official Doctor Mike t-shirts and race bibs would have the chance to meet the handsome doctor and have a selfie with him.
