The official "Vikings" Season 2 air date is on February 27 2014. The action continues as viewers can expect more gore and blood from the upcoming season. The season will consist of 10 episodes.
The plot gets more intricate as Ragnar has now allied himself with King Horrik. Will the young warrior fulfil his ambition of finding and conquering new lands across the sea? Or will his ambition be his undoing in "Vikings" Season 2?
Ragnar is getting increasingly powerful, but power comes at a price. "Vikings" Season 2 will see brother rise up against brother and new friendships and alliances will be formed with the intention of getting revenge or attaining more power. "Vikings" Season 2 will test old loyalties and will witness more betrayals as the highly popular TV show promises more action and intrigue to the dedicated fans that the show has earned with the success of its first season.
The show has been able to portray the "Vikings" differently than what is perceived by many. Viewers who were expecting warriors wearing horned helmets going on a pillaging spree were disappointed, on the horned helmets part. It is a popular myth that "Vikings" wore horned helmets. Archaeologists have found the head gear from the era and there have not been any horned helmets. They did go pillaging however and the show portrays this aspect with some heavy action.
The cast of "Vikings" 2 includes Travis Fimmel as Ragnar, Gabriel Byrne as Earl Haraldson, Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha, Clive Standen as Rollo, Gustaf Skarsgård as Floki, George Blagden as Athelstan and Nathan O'Toole as Bjorn.
The first season of "Vikings" was among the top TV series with an average of 4.3 million reported viewers, 1.8 million of who were in the age bracket of 18 to 49. Will season 2 better these numbers?
The first few months of 2014 will also see the airing of another popular TV series - "Game of Thrones" the series will be airing season 4 with an expected premier date of late March. Fans of TV shows based on a historic setting and lots of action have a lot to look forward to in the year 2014.
