‘Vikings’ season 5: Cast members undergo ‘physically tough battle scenes’; Lagertha has bloody and beaten up face
“Vikings” season 5 returns later this year. And although fans only get a handful of updates from time to time, the cast members of the History series do their best to keep fans excited and somehow informed about the show’s filming status. Not only do Katheryn Winnick and Alex Høgh Andersen one up each other on the show, the actors also do it on social media.
Spoiler alert: This article contains plot details about “Vikings” season 5. An official announcement has yet to be made regarding the air date of the season premiere. Episodes from the series’ previous seasons are available for Australian viewers to watch on SBS.
Via their social media accounts, “Vikings” cast members post photos from the set every now and then, keeping the show’s fire burning until the upcoming season’s premiere. Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha, previously posted a snapshot of the season 5 episode 16 script on her Instagram (see the photo and all others below). This made fans wonder if the reigning queen, who is speculated to meet her demise next season, is slated to remain on the show for a longer period of time since the fifth season is set to have a total of 20 episodes.
And speaking of Lagertha’s demise, the show’s official Instagram account also posted a photo of Winnick having a “rough day at the office” about a week ago. In the picture, the actress has half of her face seemingly bludgeoned and covered in blood. Could this be the look of a dying queen?
Winnick has also posted a photo of herself together with her brothers Adam and Markjan on the set. The Canadian actress disclosed that the three Winnick siblings “shared the same scene” together. One of her brothers apparently plays the role of a certain King Angantyr.
Meanwhile, Alex Høgh Andersen, who plays Ivar the Boneless, recently commended the show’s background performers in a post. The actor said that the History show has “the best extras in the world, period.” Andersen praised them for going through “physically tough battle scenes in horrible conditions, repeated over and over again, and yet they never lose their spirit.”
History has yet to reveal official details regarding the upcoming season’s premiere date, but a decent approximation would be November. The series takes an average of nine months per break, and this includes the season 4A and season 4B hiatus. Stay connected with IBTimes Australia for more “Vikings” season 5 updates.
