‘Vikings’ season 5 - Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick)
Katheryn Winnick play Lagertha on ‘Vikings’ season 5. History

The Queen is not done yet, and she will take up arms once again in the next half of “Vikings” season 5. Cast member Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha) shared a new picture of her character online. Her character’s life and the kingdom of Kattegat are on the line when the show returns.

Lagertha may have lost an important battle, but she isn’t done fighting yet. A new picture Winnick released online [see below] shows her character in the heat of battle, with her face covered in blood.

The picture is particularly significant because the trailer of the next part of the season teases Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) offering the Queen as a sacrifice in front of the people of Kattegat.

Winnick also teased her recording her dialogues for her character. “I think they’d come,” is the dialogue she was recording. It isn’t clear if this scene is from season 5 or 6. A good portion of season 6 had already been filmed when this video was released online, but the actress is keeping her fans guessing by not revealing any details about the character’s future.

The Seer (John Kavanagh) has already foretold the death of Lagertha, which will be at the hands of Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) son. So, her fate is sealed. Or is it? The cryptic statements about the future can be deceiving. There may still be a chance for Lagertha to live on. Such a scenario would certainly come as great news for the fans of the character.

The next part of the season is set to air sometime later this year. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date.

Rollo (Clive Standen) will be returning finally in the next part of the season. It will be interesting to see if the veteran warrior will be able to bring peace and make sure that everyone is united to carry forward Ragnar’s legacy.

Sooooon...
