Viral Video: Patient Due For Mastectomy Parties With Her Surgeons In Operating Room
A shocking viral video has been uploaded showing a woman patient dancing and partying merrily minutes before her breast removal surgery.
Deborah Cohan's dance party in operating room was recorded in a video that went viral on YouTube.
In San Francisco, Dr. Deborah Cohan went into double mastectomy (breast cancer) operation a few moments away when she organized a flash mob dance party with her medical team.
The video that has gone viral has been reviewed as inspiring by the viewers. Double mastectomy is a procedure that removes breasts of a woman surgically. The surgery can be quite emotional and traumatic for a woman. But Cohan sets an example with her flash mob dance party for other women.
What she did before her surgery is quite shocking to look at at first but inspiring. She wanted to gather the support of her family and friends when she decided to do something as crazy as this. She danced to Beyonce's "Get Me Bodied" in the operation room at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco.
Cohan is an ob-gyne and has two children. On Nov. 5 she went into a surgery where she threw this party. Since then, the viral video on YouTube has been viewed more than 3,200,000 times.
On a her blog Caring Bridge.org documenting her fight with breast cancer she requested her friends and family to record themselves dancing in videos so she could watch them during her recovery time. Click here to view the inspiring blog page.
I have visions of a healing video montage. Nothing brings me greater joy than catalyzing others to dance, move, be in their bodies. Are you with me people?" Cohan wrote in her blog page.
"I will be dancing in my little hospital gown and bouffant cap in the Mt. Zion operating room with the surgical and anesthesia teams. My fantasy is for you to play the song (found here) and dance wherever you happen to be (in the kitchen, the carwash, subway platform [Dan!], classroom, Labor and Delivery unit, wherever!) - ideally at 7:30am but really anytime Tuesday. It would be extra remarkable if you could send me a photo (or, better yet, a short video segment) of you dancing (via caringbridge.org or deborahcohan1@gmail.com)," Cohan explained about her dance party in the opearting room.
According to reports, Cohan was discharged from the hospital Wednesday. Looking at this shocking yet inspiring viral video, this woman showed immense courage before a serious operation like double mastectomy or breast removal surgery. Quite inspiring isn't it?
