Virgin Australia streamlines fare types from five to three
Virgin Australia (ASX: VBA) has restructured its fare system, streamlining the previous five fare types to just three.
Effective immediately, the airlines said guests on Virgin Australia, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue flights now have the option of purchasing Saver, Flexi or Premium (Premium Economy / Business) fares. There will be no change to V Australia fare types.
Saver is the fare for people wanting the best possible price. It gives travellers the choice to pre‐purchase a checked baggage allowance, and the option to purchase in‐flight entertainment or food and beverage on board. It also gives the ability to cancel or change journey up to 24hrs before the scheduled departure for a fee.
Flexi allows a food and beverage package to be included in the Economy Class price and offers priority check‐in at all major domestic and international airports. It includes checked baggage allowance ‐ up to 23kg (32kg for Gold Velocity Members) and a fully‐flexible fare with no fees to change the time and date of booking up to 24hrs after the scheduled departure.
Premium (includes Premium Economy and Business Class where available) offers unlimited food and beverage, priority Check‐in, access to the Virgin Australia lounge and a generous checked baggage allowance.
Virgin Australia’s Group Executive, Commercial, Liz Savage, said with this new product offering we are able to deliver what every traveller wants – genuinely simple and easy to understand fares, the choice of what you want included and incredible value for money,”
“Our new Flexi fare represents outstanding value. For example, starting from just $199 between Sydney and Melbourne, you get Priority Check‐in, checked baggage allowance, a food and beverage package and the ability to change your flight –all included in the price.”
