The VMAs 2013 was a smorgasbord of offerings where everyone's palate was served with a little bit of something they like and they do not like.

People have watched the memorable reunion of Justin Timberlake with NSYNC and Jennifer Hudson singing with Macklemore.

But to any festive event, there will always be something that will upset the stomach.

Here are top 5 of VMA's 2013 cringe-worthy moments (in no particular order):

20-year-old Miley Cyrus grinding with 36-year-old father of one Robin Thicke

Even Brooke Shields who played Miley Cyrus's dead mother in Hannah Montana had commented that Miley's raunchy performance was "desperate." Admittedly, she was among the many people disgusted by the former child star's performance.

In an interview with Willie Geist at Today show, Brooke voiced out her reaction on Miley's twerking.

"I was Hannah Montana's mother! Where did I go wrong? I just want to know who's advising her, and why [the racy display] is necessary ... [Our children] can't watch that. I feel like it's a bit desperate," Brooke said.

Will Smith and Kid's reaction to Miley Cyrus

Don't get this wrong. Their reaction was genuine and priceless at that. But seeing their faces reacted that way brings one's vivid recall back to 20-year-old Miley Cyrus grinding with 36-year-old father of one Robin Thicke.

The family was captured by the audience cam while supposedly watching Miley's twerking and stripping down as she performs the song "We Can't Stop" and that now infamous duet with Robin in the song "Blurred Lines."

Lady Gaga

She does it again and will be doing her "stuff" again and again. People should be immune by now but she just kept getting into people's nerve with her new antics.

However, Brooke had put it differently, comparing Lady Gaga and Miley.

"[Gaga has] a genius behind all of it; it's not just display," Brooke said.

And here is the latest news from MTV. To set the record straight, it was really during Lady Gaga's performance "Applause" that Will Smith and his kids reacted that way.

Kanye West Hide-and-Seek Performance

As how The Daily Beast put it, " Kanye West performed. It was about as annoying as you'd expect. There was this fantastic segment where all you could see was his shadow and he was cursing so often that the incessant bleeping made it absolutely silent. So Kanye West performed and you could neither see nor hear him."

Kanye's performance was so discreet, people would just have to spot him in this video performance from Drake.

Katy Perry's Diamond Encrusted Teeth Adornment

Katy Perry had a "roaring" performance singing "Roar". But she almost blinded the audience with those diamond encrusted teeth adornments, which according to New York Daily News, had Katy spending over $1,000.

The blinding teeth adornment was created by jewellery Paul Wall who confirmed that Katy had particularly chosen the teeth adornment to be worn for her debut performance of "Roar" at the VMAs.
