‘The Voice’ 2016 Battles: Christina Aguilera drops Gwen Stefani’s name, Adam Levine teases Blake Shelton (Review)

“The Voice” 2016 battles continue this week on NBC. Coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams have all used their ‘steal’ to snag strong contestants from other teams. Coach Christina Aguilera, meanwhile, has one steal left. On its Tuesday episode (March 22), Christina mentions Gwen Stefani’s name in her critique, prompting Adam to playfully tease Blake.

“The Voice” has the Gwen Stefani-Blake Shelton connection in its teaser for this week’s episodes, drawing in and delighting the supporters of the real-life couple. Some curious fans are also taking Christina’s reaction as a sign that the Gwen-Christina feud in the rumour mill is baseless, after all.

Some gossip websites reported earlier this month that Christina has been extremely unhappy over the attention that Gwen and Blake are getting in the show. No sources have been named by the tabloids.

It so happens that Blake got Gwen as his team’s mentor for “The Voice” 2016 battle rounds. Reports debunking the rumour are quick to point out that Gwen and Christina are actually longtime pals.

Christina also mentioned Gwen’s name during the blind auditions, while they were listening to Brittany Kennell. Blake responded with, “I like that!” He then quickly pressed his “I want you” button, turning his chair to see the singer who would later join his team. (Watch the video below.)

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are in constant playful banter on “The Voice” 2016. The two act like kids, though, in the sneak preview for this Tuesday’s episode. For his part, however, Adam has expressed support for his friends’ blossoming romance.

Grammy winners Sean Diddy Combs and Patti LaBelle seem to be the best mentors this season. Sean has significantly helped Abby Celso and Brian Nhira to bring out the best in each other during their performance. In the end, Pharrell chose Abby, saying he is hoping for a steal.
