‘The Voice’ 2016 recap: 12 artists remain after Knockouts Week 1
The competition on “The Voice” has just reached fever pitch as Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Blake Shelton trimmed down their teams during the Knockouts round.
Cyrus has let go of Team Alicia’s original recruit Lauren Diaz and decided to keep Ali Caldwell after performing “No Ordinary Love” on the first Knockouts aired Monday. The “Wrecking Ball” singer, on the other hand, stole Belle Jewel after losing her spot under Team Alicia to Christian Cuevas, who performed an emotional rendition of “Superstar.” (Read: Team Alicia’s Lauren Diaz goes viral on YouTube, Top 10 trending Blind Auditions [VIDEO])
Similarly, Levine stole Team Blake’s Josh Gallagher and kept Simone Gundy, who sang “Midnight Train to Georgia,” Riley Elmore, who banked on his unique voice quality with “Haven’t Met You Yet,” and Billy Gilman, who belted out “Fight Song.”
For her part, Keys gave up the sister-duo Whitney and Shannon for Kylie Rothfield, who sang “Hound Dog.” The “No One” hit maker let go of Courtnie Ramirez and kept Wé McDonald instead for impressing “The Voice” coaches with her take on “No More Drama.” The newbie coach has kept her lone chance for a steal alive after the first week of Knockouts.
Finally, Shelton Sundance Head for performing a unique rendition of Cyrus’ hit song “The Climb” and Courtney Harrell for singing “River Deep – Mountain High.” He also stole Team Adam’s Jason Warrior, who was originally under Team Alicia.
