The Voice Australia failed to hit the three million targeted viewership mark, as Karise Eden was named the first season of the singing competition.

The final edition of The Voice first season gathered only 2.65 million viewers, with the audience number peaking at 3.09 in the last few minutes of the show.

Ratings in the pre-finale broadcast on Sunday night did not make a good impression, too, with only 2.2 million viewers.

A second season has already been made official for The Voice, but there is no official word yet whether the same mentors would be in the judges' seats next year.

Meanwhile, Eden is set to begin a thrilling new chapter of her life with a new album out soon. Things fall in place for the young singer after a stint in a sex shop and a phase of refugee-hopping years ago.

Karise Eden has won a recording contract with Universal Music, cash amounting to AU$100,000 and a brand new car.

Eden's June 11 cover of "Hallelujah" has ranked second at the ARIA charts on the week leading to the finale. It sealed her lead among the Final Four, with Sportingbet guaranteeing that she would claim the first The Voice win on Monday night's finale.

"Ninety per cent of the money this week has been for Karise Eden," said Sportingbet CEO Michael Sullivan a day before the finale.

Eden has also been a top favorite in social networks, with many Aussies touched by her artistry and her will to move on from a troubled youth.

On the first part of The Voice finale last Sunday, Eden sang her own composition called, "I Was Your Girl," and Lorraine Ellison's "Stay with Me Baby." Her renditions were both moving and well-received.

Darren Percival placed second even as the online campaign on social networks appeared more solid for the other two girls. He won AU$30,000 in cash.

Rachael Leahcar was the third placer. She bagged AU$20,000.

Sarah De Bono wound up at the fourth place even as his mentor's wife, Nicole Ritchie, had urged her four million followers on Twitter to support her journey to The Voice crown. She got AU$10,000 in cash.

The highest rated Aussie reality TV finale was the 2010 Masterchef awarding, with 3.9 million viewers. Australian Idol in 2004 had 3.34 million viewers.
