The Voice Australia 2013 Recap: Battle Rounds Part 3, Lauren Dawes Goes Home, Seal Admits ‘Mistake’
The Voice Australia 2013 Battle Rounds Part 3 on Monday was not particularly captivating. When the show picks up, it was between two equally good performers from Team Seal. However, one of them must go home. Realizing this, Seal admits making a mistake, saying he should not have put together Jac Stone and Lauren Dawes.
Michelle Martinez and Simone Stacey were the first sing-off of the night. They performed Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield," but failed to really wow the judges. Between the two, however, it was clear Simone showed less promise. So Michelle gets to stay on Team Seal.
Chris Sheehy and Danny Ross delivered "Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz, but not without some guitar drama involving Joel Madden. If Chris had not been too keen on arguing with Joel, he would have had more sympathy when he was sent home. Danny Ross stays on Team Joel.
Sione Felila and Karen "Miss Murphy" Andrews took the melody down after the last performers. They make the third pair of the night, but so far no one has been truly compelling on stage just yet. After the girls performed Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready," Ricky Martin chose Miss Murphy to go through the next round.
Ben Goldstein and Mitchell Steele were up next for a slot at Team Delta. They took on Ed Sheeran's "Give Me Love," without really trying to battle each other. This is another number that lacks thrill, but then again Micthell was a little unwell. In the end, Ben gets to stay on Team Delta. (No save for the sick.)
Tim Morrison and Oscar Chavez performed "Lanterns" by Birds of Tokyo. The song is better suited to Tim's vocals, but the judges would not admit to an error in song choice. Oscar goes home, Tim stays on.
Jac Stone and Lauren Dawes managed to pick up the mood on a rather humdrum show. They sounded good together as they sang "You Don't Know Me." Now Seal has become riddled with confusion. "I make a big mistake each year and my big mistake this year is putting the two of your together," he told the two. In the end, Jac Stone stays. And Delta Goodrem drew flak for not saving Lauren.
Simon Meli and Juliane Di Sisto delivered the last battle of the night. Fortunately, they didn't take the mood a notch down. They sounded great together, singing "Hard to Handle" Otis Redding. Ricky Martin chose Simon, saying, "I can see the miles on the road in every sentence that you throw at us and in every movement."
