‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Review: Team Madden’s Lane Sinclair, Georgia Wiggins among best pairs [WATCH VIDEO]
Original air date: May 29 on Nine Network
“The Voice Australia” 2016 heats up with the start of Battle Rounds, the second telecast stage of the reality-based singing competition. The Madden brothers, Benjie and Joel, scored gold when they paired Lane Sinclair and Georgia Wiggins to sing a Tears for Fears original, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” Season 5 is shaping up well for all teams, with the Maddens edging out after the first battles episode.
Lane Sinclair, 21, said in the pre-performance package that she would feel terribly bad if she would lose to 16-year-old Georgia Wiggins. Fortunately for her, her big moments during their performance were bigger than Georgia’s albeit the teenager impressively stood her ground.
Lane and Georgia were theatrical but in a manner that was right for the song. They really delivered the drama from Lorde’s cover, sounding and looking compelling on stage – both in their solos and harmonies. It was not surprising to see all the coaches on their feet after the performance. Watch a highlight of their battle in the video below.
Team Madden is keeping Lane, but Georgia stays on in the competition with Team Ronan. “The Voice Australia” 2016 is only in the first episode of battle rounds, but Ronan has quickly used up his two saves. The new coach seemed pleased with his choices, though, saying his team is complete and the other coaches must be scared at this stage.
