‘The Voice Australia 2016’ winner Alfie Arcuri, runner-up Adam Ladell make Delta Goodrem proud [VIDEOS]
For the first time, an Australian coach wins first and second winner slots in the reality show
“The Voice Australia” 2016 (The Voice AU Season 5) aired live on July 10 on Nine Network with a big victory for proud coach Delta Goodrem. Winner Alfie Arcuri and runner-up Adam Ladell are both from Team Delta. Third placer Tash Lockhart was also from Team Delta, but coach Ronan Keating saved her after the first Battle Round. Ellen Reed from Team Jessie J finished at fourth place. The Madden brothers, Joel and Benji failed to send an artist from their team through the finals.
'The Voice Australia' 2016 winner is Team Delta’s Alfie Arcuri, architect from Sydney!
Sydney-based Alfie Arcuri, 27, was the first artist to be seen by the viewers in the fifth season of “The Voice Australia.” An architect by profession, Alfie had not sung in public until then. He picked Delta Goodrem after getting a four-chair turn. Watch his blind edition video below, from the YouTube channel of The Voice AU. Here's a quick recap of his journey on the show:
In his first battle round, Alfie beat Andrew McKinnon, from Melbourne. In the Super Battles, Delta picked Alfie together with Kim Sheehy, who eventually went home after the second live broadcast of “The Voice Australia” 2016.
Alfie was not among the four artists saved by the public before the semi-finals. He had to sing for an instant save, which means getting votes in a short amount of time during commercial break. In the finals night, he sang “Catapult” by Jack Savoretti and his official first single, “Cruel.”
'The Voice Australia' 2016 runner-up is teenager Adam Ladell
Runner-up Adam Ladell had been a strong contender from the start despite living with Tourette’s Syndrome. His original coach Ronan Keating chose Mitch Gardner over him, giving Delta Goodrem the chance to hone his artistry.
Just a couple of episodes ago, Adam admitted to feeling hurt by social media comments saying he was only getting sympathy votes in the show. His coach Delta Goodrem simply told him to own the stage and show the critics how wrong they were.
'The Voice Australia' 2016 is charmed season for coach Delta Goodrem
“The Voice Australia” coach Delta Goodrem has so far skipped only one season, but she never won a year until now. She was third placer with Rachael Leahcar and Celia Pavey in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Delta skipped Season 3, but failed to take an artist through the grand finals in Season 4.
The first and second seasons of “The Voice AU” were won by Seal with Karise Eden and Harrison Craig in 2012 and 2013, respectively. One-season coach will.i.am. won with Anja Nissen in 2014, while coach Jessie J won 2015 with Ellie Drennan.
Alfie Arcuri and Adam Ladell certainly made history this year for taking both the grand winner and runner-up wins. No coach from “The Voice Australia” has achieved such a feat.
