"The Voice Australia" coach Joel Madden has been kicked out of his hotel room in Sydney for drug possession. The American rocker will not be charged after police discovered a small quantity of cannabis in his room at the Sydney Star casino hotel.

A cleaner reportedly discovered less than five grams of marijuana in the 34-year-old Good Charlotte star's room around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday night while he was out. The police were contacted, and proceeded to search the room at 10:30 p.m.

Although cops wouldn't say if the marijuana belonged to Madden, they said that he was present during the search.

Madden was then asked to leave the hotel following the incident.

"Joel Madden was ejected from the hotel because a small amount of cannabis was found inside his hotel room," the manager of the Darling Hotel told TMZ, adding, "In Australia there is a 0 tolerance for this no matter where you are."

Investigations are ongoing, but Nicole Richie's husband is said to be off the hook since he was said to be in possession of just 5g of the drug, which wasn't enough for a charge.

"Sunday while I was at work, a hotel employee found a small amount of marijuana in my hotel room. The police were called and responded. Sydney is my adopted home and I appreciate the way the NSW police handled the situation," Madden wrote on his Tumblr.

"They have informed me there will be no charges. I hope this didn't cause too much drama for everyone."

Madden and fellow "The Voice" coach Seal have both stayed at the hotel when they're in Sydney to shoot the reality competition show, according to the Herald Sun.
