The Voice Season 5 (2013) crowned Tessanne Chin as the winner of the season. The Jamaican singer impressed everyone with her often referred to as "sultry, powerhouse vocals." She had to beat 47 fellow contestants on the show to reach the top spot and claim the winning position. She belonged to Team Adam and was competing with Will Champlin from same team and Jacquie Lee of Team Christina. Her brilliant performance of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" helped her secure #1 spot in the iTunes charts and impressed her fans and viewers to support her with their votes in the finals and claim the most coveted trophy. Tessanne, 28, is the first ever Jamaican to enter NBC's Emmy Award-winning reality singing competition show. Her father Richard Chin is a Chinese and her mother Christine Chin is half black and half English/African. She has an older sister named Tami Chyn.

Tessanne Chin come from the family of musicians as her father Richard and her mother Christine were a part of a band called Carnations. Her father was a drummer and her mother was a trumpeter. Her sister Tami is a singer like her. Her cousins Jay Hall and Leon are vocalists.

Tessanne's journey as a singer started very early in life as she started learning music from her parents at an early age. She is primarily trained by her mother and her mentor Lecie Wright.

She became a performer at a very early age as she began to perform when she was just 6. At that time she was a part of her reputed performing arts school of Jamaica called Little People and Teen Players Club. She gained experience as a performer also through legendary Jamaican musician Jimmy Cliff and rock band Mile High.

After gaining experience with Mile High and Jimmy Cliff, Tessanne Chin started focusing on a solo career as a singer. She wrote her own songs and released a debut album titled "in Between Words." She is known for some her songs titled "Hideaway," "Messenger" and "Black Books."

She developed a mixed style which is inspired by her idols such as Pat Benatar, Diana King, Celine Dion, Bob Marley and more. She is known for her expertise in dancehall, reggae and rock musical genre.

Her first performance in the blind auditions of "the Voice Season 5 (2013) took place in Sep. 2013 where she performed "Try" by Pink. In the auditions all the four coaches of the show- Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera- turned their chairs eventually it was her decision to pick her mentor. She chose to be with Adam Levine.

She gained prominence with her performance of the "Redemption Song." She ranked #1 with her semifinals performance of "Bridge Over Troubled Water." This song was her highest point throughout her The Voice Season 5 (2013) journey. "Singing the Simon and Garfunkel song (Bridge Over Troubled Water) last week I think was her high point because of how much it moved her coach. We don't see Adam Levine get speechless, and when he's speechless, you've made a pretty big impact," explained The Voice Season 5 (2013) host Carson Daly.

In The Voice Season 5 (2013) Finals Round in Finale Week on Day 1, she took over the stage thrice where she first performed her blind auditions song. Later, she joined Coach Adam Levine in duet performance of the "Let It Be" by The Beatles.

"He's the best. He has made this whole experience so amazing for me. He's taken care with everything when it comes to me and he's invested so much in everything. It just felt right to be able to have fun with him on stage and to be able to just have a good time and not worry so much about judging and coaching. Just to be able to sing together," explained Tessanne Chin to Zap2it while speaking about performing with him in The Voice Season 5 (2013)Finale. Yet another performance that helped her reach #1 in iTunes ranking was "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston. She simply wowed at it. I did my best, and gave 150 percent of what I could! Especially with the Whitney song, I knew that if I did that well, I could leave here ... with no regrets. I'm not going to worry about [the finale]; it's out of my hands. I'm going to drink a little rum, have a wonderful time with friends and get some sleep," Tessanne Chin told Hollywoodlife.com about her final bidding performance.

Tessanne Chin performed "Love Can Move Mountains" with her idol Celine Dion on The Voice Season 5 (2013) Finale Episode on Dec. 17. She also sand "Hold On (I'm Coming)" with Jonny Grey, James Wolpert, Olivia Henken and Preston Pohl as her "bring back" group performance.

As for Tessanne Chin's last performance on the stage of "The Voice" and first performance of original single of The Voice Season 5 (2013), she sang "Tumbling Down," penned especially by One Republic's Ryan Tedder for The Voice Season 5(2013) winner.
