Last Thursday the newest breakfast show on Australian television axed host Natasha Exelby just over two weeks after its initial airing. This is probably a sign of the things to come for Network Ten’s latest investment.

"I have said repeatedly that chemistry is everything at breakfast and, right now, I don't think the balance is correct," morning television director Adam Boland said in a statement, while he also added that Natarsha Belling and James Mathieson will continue to be the face of the program.

So will the chemistry and balance of “Wake Up” be finally be realised in the next few weeks, months or this season? And can it save the show?

Based on the betting lines at sportsbet.com.au, it is more likely that the show will be canned before it becomes highest rated show for its timeslot:

Betting Odds for Wake Up - Success Specials
“Wake Up” to be cancelled within a year of airing (1.85)
“Wake Up” to be the most watched breakfast show of 2014 (51.0)

Confused with the numbers at the end of those options? The formula is fairly easy:

X (Amount of Bets) times Betting Odds = Total Payout

For example, if a bettor put a wager of $100 on the first option (to be cancelled within a year with betting odds of 1.85), then that bettor gets a payout of $185 or $85 winnings if and when it is indeed canned before November of 2014.

However, if a bettor put the same $100 wager on the second option (to be the most watched with betting odds of 51.0) and “Wake Up” actually performs in the ratings war, then that bettor will get a payout of $5,100!

There are two schools of thought for the gamblers and “Wake Up” fans or non-viewers:

Bet on the first option and stop or never watch the show again then tell family and friends to do the same.

Bet on the second option and do the opposite, watch the show religiously from now until 2014 and convince family and friends to start their day right and watch “Wake Up”.

Either way, it’s probably time for you to take a gander at those betting lines… Maybe put a little wager or two. And wake up to the reality that the show will never be good with your breakfast.
