"A Walk Among the Tombstones" which is distributed by Universal Pictures was shown in U.S., UK and Canadian theatres on Sept. 19, 2014. It stars Liam Neeson (Matthew Scudder), Dan Stevens (Kenny Kristo), Boyd Holbrook (Peter Kristo), Whitney Able (Denise), Adam David Thompson (Albert), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Jonas Loogan) and Sebastian Roché (Yuri Landau). "A Walk Among the Tombstones" is based on Lawrence Block's novel of the same title. It is directed by Scott Frank. It is produced by Danny DeVito, Brian Oliver, Michael Shamberg, Tobin Armbrust and Stacey Sher. The film's runtime is 113 minutes. Its main plot is about Scudder, an ex-police officer who became a private investigator. Scudder was hired to look into the murder of Kenny Kristo's wife who was kidnapped and killed because Kenny wasn't able to pay all of the ransom that the kidnappers demanded of him.

This book-to-film adaptation also features Stephanie Andujar (cashier), David Harbour (Ray), Brian "Astro" Bradley (TJ) and Eric Nelsen (Howie).

Best Moments:

When...

1. Scudder found out that one of the kidnapper's names is Ray and that he, along with his partner, used to be involved with the Drug Enforcement Administration, or DEA.

2. Scudder successfully tricked Ray and lured him out to get the ransom in person.

3. Scudder killed the second murderer at the end, successfully avenging Kenny and his wife, who both died.

Worst Moments:

When...

1. Scudder accidentally killed a 7-year-old girl which caused him to quit being a police officer.

2. The man who works in a cemetery, who was also an accomplice of the kidnappers, committed suicide by jumping off a building.

3. Kenny was killed by one of his wife's kidnappers.

According to Box Office Mojo, the budget of "A Walk Among the Tombstones" is $28 million. As of Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, the film has already earned $25,850,000 worldwide (Domestic Total: $20,871,000 + Foreign Total: $4,979,000). "A Walk Among the Tombstones" earned $12,758,780 on its opening weekend.

IMDb Ratings:

The Internet Movie Database, or IMDb rating for "A Walk Among the Tombstones" is 7.0/10 from 5,396 users. It garnered a Metascore of 57/100 from 36 critics including Glenn Kenny of RogerEbert.com, who gave the film a score of 88 and Kate Erbland of Film.com who gave the film a score of 81.

Rotten Tomatoes Ratings:

According to the Tomatometer, "A Walk Among the Tombstones" deserves a 67% score and is considered Fresh by Rotten Tomatoes. It scored a 6/10 average rating, with 74 considering it fresh and 37 considering it rotten out of 111 reviews. It also got a 63% score from the audience as of this writing.

Critics' Reviews:

"A dynamite thriller," Glenn Kenny wrote on RogerEbert.com.

On the other hand, Kate Erbland of Film.com thinks that the role of Matt Scudder suits Liam Neeson perfectly.

Audience Reviews:

"The detective plot is as good as the formula can be. It's complex and engaging. It depicts a world that is unforgiving, violent, and cruel to its characters," Edward Boxler wrote in a review posted on the Rotten Tomatoes website.

Meanwhile, Super Reviewer KJ Proulx thinks that the film tries too hard at being an enthralling thriller as opposed to being an action film like Neeson's previous hit movie "Taken."
