David Morrissey knew his character the Governor won't last to end of season 4 of "The Walking Dead." He told The Hollywood Reporter that he didn't know how short his role will be on the show. "I only knew that I was going just before the delivery of Episode 8. That's when I knew," Morrissey said.

Morrissey mentioned that Governor was not a character who would live for a long time on the show. With a heavy heart he said that will miss everyone from "The Walking Dead."

"I was very sad because I loved being in the show and working with everybody. Then the double whammy of also being the person who brings Scott Wilson's [Hershel] participation to an end was really heavy."

Morrissey said that the Governor died because he had to. "I never wanted him to be a cartoon baddie, which was just a man doing evil things; I wanted to show a man who you felt could have redemption inside."

He said that he is happy that Lilly took the Governor's life with the bullet. On the other hand, Michonne left him to bleed and later become a zombie. She attacked the Governor with her katana. It was Lilly who was unhappy about how all this and she killed him with one shot. "She knew that in order to give him freedom, it has to be killing his brain, and that's debatable if that's a compassionate act on her part. But I would like to believe it was."

The Governor's death was indeed classic - a katana and a bullet. Two ladies, Michonne and Lilly, ended the terrifying rule of the one-eyed beast. But, are you happy that now the Governor is not around? We need a new baddie as bad as the Governor.
