"The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman has addressed the issue of Daryl Dixon's sexuality.

Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, is one of the few characters in the TV show that is not based on a character from the original comic book series. He was originally a recurring character, but his popularity among the viewers led him to be upgraded to a main character by season two.

Fans have thought he would hook up with either Beth (Emily Kinney) or Carol (Melissa McBride), but so far, there hasn’t been any development in his relationship with either.

It might be because he isn’t interested in women at all. Kirkman said that it’s possible the tough guy would turn out to be gay.

In a letter column to “The Walking Dead” issue No. 130 released on Wednesday, the comic book writer hinted on the sexuality of the crossbow-wielding series protagonist.

“All I say is that it’s been discussed,” Kirkman responded to a question from a fan, who pointed out that Daryl is similar to the comic book character Jesus, a tough guy who happens to be gay.

Kirman continued, “We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seemingly lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing... we’ll tackle it in the show.”

But would the producers of the show allow Daryl to be gay?

“For the record, they would allow,” he answered.

Meanwhile, another banned scene from the season four of the show has been released online, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

In the NSFW scene, Hershel (Scott Wilson) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are being held captive by Mitch (Kirk Acevedo), who threatens Michonne with crude sexual acts.
