"The Walking Dead" comics did not have Daryl Dixon as an original character. So, it was challenging for Norman Reedus. Moreover, he had nothing to refer for the portrayal. However, he was also not pleased by how the writers planned to showcase Daryl Dixon in "The Walking Dead."

Norman Reedus spoke to Men's Journal about how he managed to create a confused, I-don't-care yet loveable Daryl Dixon.

"It was written very 'F- you, f- you, f- you'" he revealed of early drafts of Daryl. "I said, 'I don't want to do that. I don't want to take drugs. I want to have grown up in that environment and then been embarrassed of it,'" said Norman Reedus.

Finally, Daryl Dixon's character was not the f**k you types.

In "The Walking Dead" season 4, episode 10, "Inmates," fans saw the post-prison side of Daryl Dixon and he looked depressed.

"He's lost this group of people that believed in him, that he believed in, and he's sort of at this place where he's like, 'What's the point?'" said Norman in a behind-the-scenes video.

Robert Kirkman mentioned that after the prison war, Daryl Dixon is in a pretty bad shape.

Norman Reedus is renowned for playing the character Daryl Dixon. He told Men's Journal that he has been signing a lot of b**ts these days.

"I've seen Daryl tattooed on maybe a thousand people. I've been asked to put my breath in a bottle and seal it up. I've had babies named after me. There was one lady who asked me for an autograph, and she pulled a chicken out of her shirt - she wanted me to hold her chicken."

Norman Reedus has appeared in more than 30 films and numerous music videos for Radiohead and Lady Gaga. He has also modelled for Levi's, Prada and Lexus.

Watch Daryl Dixon in action on "The Walking Dead" season 4 airs Sundays on AMC.
