‘The Walking Dead’: Scott Wilson On Death Dinner, Hershel’s Smiling Face Before Governor Killed Him And More
The moral compass of Team Prison died in a tragic fashion in "The Walking Dead" season 4 episode 8, the mid-season finale. The kind Hershel Greene was killed by the Governor after Rick refused his demands that they leave the prison for good.
Hershel's death was gruesome to say the least. Certainly, Governor's katana using technique was pathetic simply because he could not slice Hershel in one go which lead to his painful death. Poor Hershel indeed. The Governor had even resorted to hacking Hershel's neck several times. What a waste!
Entertainment Weekly interviewed Scott Wilson (Hershel Greene).
The Big Death Dinner for Scott Wilson
Whenever a cast member dies on the show, he gets his huge Death Dinner. Even Scott Wilson got one which he happily shared in the interview with EW.
"Yes, we had a Death Dinner and it was touch and moving. You know, I wasn't the only one that died that episode. The Governor died and David Morrissey did a fantastic job and I loved working with him. The badder he was, the more meaningful it was to take me out, so he delivered - big time!"
Hershel's Smile Before The Governor Killed Him With Michonne's Katana
Wilson told Entertainment Weekly that it was all like a flashback. Hershel must have remembered his first talk with Rick on the porch of the farm.
"I think that was a really a culmination of the first scene that Rick and Hershel had together on the front porch of Hershel's farm, talking about the world, and about disease, and about the place of man in the new order of things. And really that's kind of a theme that went through the two-and-a-half seasons I was on the show. Where do you stand? Where's the humanity in this situation? Where do you keep your humanity?"
Wilson told Hershel the was hearing the exact sentiments that he shared right from Rick's mouth. Wilson knew that Rick finally got what he wanted to convey in season 2 of "The Walking Dead."
The actor also goes on to share that he has the severed head of his character in a bag kept away in a closet. Creepy!
"The Walking Dead" season 4 returns with new episode on AMC on Febreuary 9, 2014.
