Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 9: New Photos Surface [Spoiler Alert]
A Recap and a Sneak Peek into Episode 9
Buzzfeed.com spoiled photos from the ninth episode of The Walking Dead, whose mid-season premier starts airing on Sunday, 10 Feb (9PM EST).
In the midseason finale, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his gang have just invaded Woodbury to rescue Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Glenn (Steven Yeun). And just in time as The Governor (David Morrissey) has sentenced the two to death via zombie mixed martial arts in the Screamer Pits!
Michonne (Danai Gurira) has her own agenda, and it's no secret. She wants the Governor dead. Instead, she finds his secret - there's a zombie hiding in the Governors' closet and it's his daughter! The Governor goes insane when Michonne decides to kill her. The ensuing battle sees Michonne limping away, leaving the Governor with one eye less than he woke up with that morning. Andrea (Laurie Holden) finds the Governor a mess and cradling a dead zombie girl. At this point, she’s probably thinking “What have I gotten myself into?”
Meanwhile, the brothers Merle (Michael Rooker) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) get their long awaited reunion, but it's not exactly a celebration. The Governor has gone off the deep end (you know, deeper than the end that keeps decapitated zombie heads in display aquariums and his zombified daughter in the closet), and decides to blame Merle for the attack on Woodbury. As “proof,” he introduces Daryl as Merle’s brother. The people of Woodbury accept the Governors word as gospel truth.
And if that wasn’t complicated enough, a new group of survivors have just emerged. Led by Tyrese (Chad Coleman), they enter the prison through a broken fence (starting to think this prison isn’t very secure). But there are zombies outside and there are zombies inside too! Tyrese and his gang need help, and it comes in the form of – Carl?!
Rick’s boy Carl (Chandler Riggs) is all grown up and acting tough now. After all the poor kid’s been through, it’s actually a sad moment when he has to be an adult. Which is what makes this show great, the sad moments followed by the run-for-your-lives! moments - you never quite know what's coming around the bend.
And next week, we get the long-awaited episode 9, where we'll see what happens next to our gang of survivors. Can Rick make his way back into Woodbury, this time, to rescue Daryl? And if he can, will any of them make their way out? How much further can the Governor push his credibility as town leader now that he has a piratey eye-patch? Will Andrea realize the truth and be taking the side of friends or her lover?
