‘Walking Dead’ Season 3 Finale Sets New Rating Records: Here’s Top Reasons Why
‘Walking Dead’ Season 3 Finale Rakes in Record-Breaking Audience
Spoiler Alert! Officials of the zombie drama had two words to describe its new ratings records for its deadly episode Sunday. ‘Walking Dead’ Season 3 finale has broken its own records and set more rating records with the highly coveted demographic after it scored a staggering 12.4 million total viewers and 8.1. million in the 18-49 demographic.
The figures set by ‘Walking Dead’ Season 3 Finale last Sunday is the zombie drama’s best, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Shattering its own records, Walking Dead opened the episode with a whopping 12.4 million viewers at the beginning of the one-hour series at 9p.m. As if breaking its own number of viewers wasn’t enough, the season 3 finale was also able to attract the advertiser-favorite age group: 18-49 demographic.
These figures, said “represent the series bests in total viewers and the demo,” and these numbers are to die for, for any television series.
The success of the season finale of the series based on Robert Kirkman’s comics has been attributed to the filmmakers’ decision to kill one of its series regular, Laurie Holden (Andrea). It should be pointed out that the highest ratings recorded by ‘Walking Dead’ is even highlighted by the fact that it was head to head with HBO’s season-three premiere of ‘Game of Thrones.’ The zombie’s season finale also came on top despite the expected decreased number of viewers on Easter Sunday, not to mention that it was also battling in viewership against History’s finale of ‘The Bible.’
Officials of the zombie drama have two words to attribute the success of the ‘Walking Dead’ Season 3 finale: dead and grateful.
“It’s a joy that we get to work with such tremendous talent to make The Walking Dead and Talking Dead come to life for audiences that continue to engage and grow. In just three seasons, The Walking Dead has become a pop-culture phenomenon, entertaining millions of passionate viewers and obliterating traditional lines between cable and broadcast television,” AMC president Charlie Collier was quoted as saying in an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
