Life is not easy in the post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world. It is not just the zombies that the good guys have to beat, but there are bad guys like the Governor who makes life miserable. "The Walking Dead" returned and in the last episode, Michonne (Danai Gurira), Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) reunited. "The Walking Dead" season 4, episode 11, "Claimed" is going two feature two storylines. One of the storylines will feature Michonne, Rick and Carl.

E! Online got access to two exclusive photographs of Michonne and Carl. In "The Walking Dead" season 4, episode, Carl and Michonne set on a dangerous mission together. Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd also dished out some details about what fans can expect in the upcoming episode.

Just like "The Walking Dead" season 4 mid-season premiere episode, fans get to see more of Michonne's past. In one of the photographs, she looks sad, and it seems that the backstory is not going to be a happy one.

Gale told E! Online that Michonne's background is different from that in the comic books.

"Obviously, as with everything in our show, there are changes from what's in the comic book, but it's clearly an element [that we're going to explore]," said Gale.

Meanwhile, Carl has also gone through a lot emotionally in the entire season. He almost lost his baby sister, Judith during the prison war, his father was brutally assaulted by the Governor.

"This is a child who's had to shoot his mother who was going to turn into a walker, and had to shoot Shane, who was like a surrogate father to him," explained Gale.

"Any relationship between a father and a son, especially a son going through puberty and becoming a teenager, is going to be fraught with difficulty. And that's amplified by the fact that they're now separated from the rest of the group, and Rick still isn't in good shape, so I think it's likely that the balance will go back and forth as to who needs who more."

"The Walking Dead" season 4, episode 11, "Claimed" airs Sunday, Feb. 23 on AMC.
